Way back in the eighteenth century a boy was born to the Rector and his wife of Epworth in Lincolnshire. He was John Wesley who, along with his brother Charles, started the movement which was to become The Methodist Church. Methodists believed that religion should come from the heart and were active in social reform. The church in Blackbird Road was built in 1927 to house a congregation which had started in a factory in 1859 and then moved to a building in Northgate Street. The name it bears celebrates its roots in Methodism and the present members continue the tradition of accepting Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour and trying to express that in their lives.
The pages of this web site introduce you to some of the activities that the church runs to serve the community in the name of Jesus Christ. I hope you will find it helpful and informative.
